# Which AppVentory path should I follow?
## Choose the shortest route depending on whether you manage your own software, advise clients, or do both.
#### What you get
The shortest route to your first saving. The order below is built so money shows up early rather than after a week of setup.
#### You manage your own software
You work in one place: **My Business**.
**Read:** *Getting your data in* → *Your app inventory* → *Spend* → *Find savings and risks* → *Reporting what you found*. Use Renewals, Requests and procurement, Surveys and Playbooks when those workflows matter to you.
#### You advise clients
Your portfolio-level work happens in **My Practice**. That is where you manage clients and focus on the portfolio rather than opening every client one by one.
**Read:** *Getting your data in* → *For advisors: running a portfolio* → use the shared *Your app inventory*, *Spend*, *Find savings and risks* and *Reporting what you found* articles whenever you move into an individual client workspace.
The feature guidance is written once. The same app, spend and reporting concepts apply inside an organisation whether that organisation is your own business or a client.
#### You do both
Your firm runs its own stack and your clients'. This is the first two paths in one account, with a switch between them.
**Read:** both paths above, then the single article in *Running both*.
Start with your own organisation. It is smaller, you already know the answers, and it is the cheapest place to learn what every screen means before you use it on a client.
