What AppVentory can and can't see

Understand what data AppVentory reads from each source, what stays outside the platform and where the boundaries sit.

What you get

A clear answer for the colleague or client who asks what this thing actually reads.

What each source contributes

Your accounting platform. Relevant expense and spend data used to build software-cost visibility. The exact fields and account/category handling vary by accounting platform. The connection is one-way — AppVentory does not post transactions or changes back to your ledger.

Your identity provider. Users, identity-linked applications and user-to-app relationships. Google Workspace and Microsoft Entra ID can also provide available sign-in/activity signals; Okta is centred on assigned applications and users.

The browser extension. Browser-based usage signals used to strengthen the difference between having access to an app and actually using it. The shipped extension documentation covers the signals it captures and the content it excludes; individual-level visibility by role still needs Product confirmation below.

You. Information you add manually or import into AppVentory.

Where the boundaries sit

For the documented identity integrations, AppVentory does not import mailbox content, Google Drive or OneDrive/SharePoint files, Teams messages, calendar content, passwords or user credentials.

Accounting and identity connections are read-only from AppVentory's side: AppVentory does not post accounting entries, change identity-provider settings, provision users or remove application access.

AppVentory also does not buy, cancel or downgrade subscriptions on your behalf. Actions identified in AppVentory still happen in the relevant vendor or administration system.

On the extension specifically

The Chrome extension can record the corporate user identity, SaaS domains and subdomains accessed, app matching, session start and end signals, foreground active time, background time and last activity. The shipped extension documentation explicitly states that page content, keystrokes and screenshots are not tracked.

The purpose of these signals is to add evidence to licence and usage decisions, not to describe the content of someone's work.
