Read the results and act on them

Combine ratings, response coverage and usage before deciding.

What you get

A decision you can defend to the people it affects — the hardest kind to argue with.

Reading a result

Open the survey from SurveysSurveys. Each shows the star rating, the response count against the number invited, and % Critical — the share of people who rated it poorly. Click through for the individual responses and the open answers.

A rating means little without the response rate. Four stars from three people out of forty is anecdote; four stars from thirty is evidence.

Combine it with usage

Sentiment and usage together give four situations, and each one has an obvious next move:

  • Used a lot, rated well — Protect it at renewal
  • Used a lot, rated poorly — Scope a replacement
  • Used little, rated well — Ask why — training gap?
  • Used little, rated poorly — The clearest cut in the product

Low usage plus a low rating is the easiest decision you will make. High usage plus a low rating is the one to take seriously: people depend on something they dislike, and a better tool is a productivity gain, not just a saving.

Feeding it forward

A rating below your threshold flags the app automatically under Problematic Apps. Take the survey result into the consolidation or the renewal conversation — a team's own verdict carries more weight than any usage chart.
