My Business, My Practice and client workspaces explained
Know which AppVentory layer you are in, what belongs there and when to switch into an individual client.
What you get
One idea that unlocks the whole knowledge base: AppVentory shows you one organisation at a time, and a single control changes which one.
Learn this and every other article works for you, whichever workspace you are standing in.
The three places you can be
My Business — your own organisation's software. The business navigation centres on Business Overview, Apps, Spend Overview, Renewals, Procurement, Organization and Surveys.
My Practice — the advisor's portfolio layer. The current practice navigation brings Practice Overview, Clients, Cost Savings, App on Charge and Agents together under one practice view.
A client workspace — use Select Client to move from the portfolio into one client's organisation when you need organisation-level detail.

Why this saves you time
A client workspace reuses the same core organisation concepts you already learn on the Business side — especially apps, spend, mappings, users and reporting. That is why this knowledge base keeps those topics scope-neutral instead of maintaining separate Business and Advisor copies.
My Practice is different. It is designed for portfolio-level work: deciding which clients need attention, managing the client list and acting on practice-wide opportunities. Open a client workspace when you need depth on one organisation, not as the default way to run your portfolio.
Knowing where you are
- Practice Overview, Clients, Cost Savings, App on Charge or Agents — The practice layer
- My Business, no client name in the top bar — Your own organisation
- A client's name with a cross beside it — Inside that client's workspace
