Steps

  1. Go to Apps and open Overlapping Apps.
  2. Review the apps grouped together and the cost and savings information shown for the opportunity.
  3. Expand a group to compare the available app, user, department and feature context, plus any recommendation shown by AppVentory.
  4. Start with the groups that combine meaningful spend with a plausible functional overlap.
  5. Validate the suggestion with the app owners before you decide to consolidate, dismiss or leave the tools as they are.

Treat it as a review signal, not a verdict

Two apps appearing together does not automatically mean one should be removed. Different teams, workflows, contracts or feature needs can make an apparent overlap intentional.

If a suggestion is not useful, dismiss it where that option is available. If you complete a consolidation, record the realised saving so the outcome is separated from the original potential estimate.

If an expected overlap is missing

Check that the apps are correctly identified and categorised, but do not assume category changes alone will force a particular result. Overlap detection is an analytical signal and should be sense-checked against the actual use case.
