Find overlapping apps

Review applications AppVentory groups as potential overlaps and decide whether consolidation is genuinely practical.

What you get

A review queue of applications that AppVentory believes may overlap. Use the cost, user, department and feature context to decide whether the tools are genuinely redundant or intentionally serve different needs.

Where to look

For your own organisation: Apps → Overlapping Apps. For a client, the same view sits under Cost Savings in their record.

Each group shows the apps involved, their combined annual spend, and the potential saving.

Steps

  1. Open the group carrying the largest saving.
  2. Read the Comparison Details — annual cost, users and department for each app.
  3. Review the Features Comparison and other context shown for the group.
  4. Treat any AppVentory recommendation as input to the review rather than a final decision.
  5. Validate the suggestion with the app owners and the teams using the tools.
  6. Choose Mark As Consolidated when done, Create Task to hand it on, or Dismiss if the overlap is deliberate.

Use Mark As Consolidated only after the change has actually happened and enter the realised saving based on what was genuinely removed or reduced. Use Dismiss when the suggestion is intentional or not useful.

If a known overlap isn't listed

Check that the apps are identified and categorised correctly, but do not assume a category edit will guarantee a particular overlap result. The feature is an analytical aid and should be sense-checked against the actual software roles.
