Email provider integrations

Understand AppVentory's email-provider connections and configure outbound delivery through SendGrid or MailChimp/Mandrill.

What you get

A reference for the Email Provider integration category and how it supports AppVentory communications.

These are secondary workflow integrations: they handle outbound delivery and sender identity rather than app discovery, usage or spend data.

AppVentory currently supports SendGrid and MailChimp/Mandrill for this workflow. Klaviyo may appear as Coming Soon and should not be treated as available until released. Only one email delivery integration can be active at a time.

Before you start

Choose the provider you want to use and make sure you can create the required API key and configure an approved sender address.

If another email delivery integration is already active, deactivate it before switching providers.

Set up SendGrid

  1. In SendGrid, create a Full Access API key.
  2. In AppVentory, open the SendGrid integration and enter the API key.
  3. Choose the Sender Email you want AppVentory to use.
  4. Activate the integration.

Once active, AppVentory-generated email is routed through your SendGrid setup. Delivery issues can also be investigated through SendGrid's Activity view.

Set up MailChimp / Mandrill

  1. Open Mandrill using your MailChimp credentials and create an API key.
  2. In AppVentory, open the Intuit MailChimp integration and enter the key.
  3. Configure the From Email and From Name.
  4. Verify the key and activate the integration.

Your configured sender is then used for AppVentory-generated outbound email.

What this connection does

Depending on the workflow, the configured provider can be used for AppVentory-generated messages such as invitations, reminders, reports, onboarding and offboarding communications.

It also lets you manage sender settings from AppVentory while delivery runs through the provider you control.

What it does not do

This is an outbound email delivery connection. AppVentory does not use it to import or manage:

  • MailChimp or SendGrid marketing contacts and audiences
  • Email templates stored in those platforms
  • Marketing journeys or campaigns created outside AppVentory
  • Inbound email

Your email provider remains the delivery system and source for its deeper delivery/activity records.

If you need to switch providers

Deactivate the active email-delivery integration first, then connect and activate the other provider. SendGrid and MailChimp cannot be active at the same time.
