Connecting AppVentory to Claude and ChatGPT (MCP)

Connect your AppVentory account to an AI assistant and ask about your software portfolio in plain language — which apps your organisation tracks, how many are actually in use, and where your subscription spend is concentrated.

 What you'll need
  • An AppVentory account you can sign in to at my.appventory.com.
  • Apps already tracked in AppVentory — the assistant reads your existing data and doesn't add to it.
  • A Claude or ChatGPT account that supports connectors.
Connect AppVentory
  1. In your assistant's connector settings, add AppVentory. If you're adding it manually, the server URL ishttps://api.appventory.com/mcp.
  2. You'll be sent to my.appventory.comto sign in. Enter your usual AppVentory email and password.
  3. Review the permission screen. It names the assistant requesting access and what it will be able to read.
  4. Choose Allow. You'll be returned to your assistant with AppVentory connected and ready to use.
You only sign in once. The connection stays active until you remove it.

What you can ask
  • "What SaaS apps are we tracking in AppVentory?"
  • "Show me our full software stack, including each app's status and category."
  • "How many of our apps are in use versus just discovered?"
  • "What are we spending the most on over the last 12 months?"
  • "Give me a summary of our software portfolio."

What AppVentory shares
The connector is read-only. It can list or search your tracked apps, return your portfolio counts, and return your top apps by spend. It cannot add, change or delete anything in AppVentory.
Everything it returns is scoped to the organisation of the account you signed in with. If you're a tech advisor managing client businesses, the connection attaches to your own account, not to whichever client you were viewing when you connected.
See our Privacy Policy for how this data is handled and retained.

Disconnecting
Remove the AppVentory connector in your assistant's settings. The assistant stops having access to your AppVentory data.

Troubleshooting
Sign-in page doesn't load, or the connection fails partway. Confirm you can sign in directly at my.appventory.com first, then try connecting again.

The assistant says it can't find any apps. Your AppVentory account may not have any tracked apps yet. Sign in to AppVentory and confirm apps appear in your dashboard.
