Add apps manually or by spreadsheet
Fill gaps that your connected sources do not cover without creating duplicate application records.
What you get
A way to fill known gaps in your app inventory. Connected sources only show what those sources can see, so manual entry or import is useful for software you already know should be tracked.
Before you start
Let your connections finish their first sync. Otherwise you will add things that were about to arrive on their own.
What connections miss
- Software paid for outside your connected accounting file.
- Apps bought before the history your platform holds.
- Annual subscriptions whose last payment falls outside the imported period.
- Free tools that are still worth tracking.
Free or internally important tools can still be worth tracking even when there is no accounting transaction attached to them.
Steps
- Go to Apps and click Add App.
- Enter the application. Where AppVentory recognises it, the category and known details fill themselves in.
- Add owner, department, renewal date and cost. Each one sharpens a later finding.
- To add spend for an app that has none, use Add Spend on Spend Overview, or Import via CSV for a batch.
Search before adding — vendors often bill under a parent company name you would not recognise.
Avoid duplicates
Search the existing app inventory before adding anything. A vendor can appear under a parent-company or billing name that differs from the product name your team uses.
What you've unlocked
You can now fill deliberate gaps in the app inventory while keeping discovered and imported records as the primary source where available.
